Last night I had the pleasure of visiting two awesome girls Nat and Marie at the Nat & Marie show! Check out the interview and performance and all the cool things these wonderful ladies are up to.
Today I will be hosting a Facebook conversation on Youth Engagement and Volunteering. I also had the privalage to write a article on this topic in the National Post newspaper which was published today! To stay tuned on the conversation check out: http://on.fb.me/q3fxls

On Thursday, October 27th, The Remix Project was honoured to host the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, former Governor General of Canada, in our studio space. We were joined by her Foundation and executives from boutique furniture manufacturer EQ3 to announce the launch of Generation Art, a nationwide youth visual art contest aiming to spread the message of community building through the proliferation and promotion of the arts.
Remix was visited by various provincial and municipal dignitaries, community arts organizations, and members of the national and local media. The event featured live visual art by Remix 7.0 graduate Kyle, and Remix 8.0 participants Lelu & Cindy, as well as photography and video by fellow Remix 8.0 participants Anton & Frankie. Another Remix 8.0 participant, Milka, was also fortunate enough to have the opportunity to interview Her Excellency in a one-on-one setting.
The event was deemed successful and further strengthened the relationship between The Remix Project and the Michaelle Jean Foundation, with the former Governor General enthusiastically proclaiming before her departure “I am Remix!”
I have always had a great deal of admiration for this woman and that continues to grow as our relationship strengthens.

Remix is my heart. Thanks to every single person in these pictures for contributing to the legacy of the make it happen gang. Congrats to the most recent grads of 7.0, you all make me proud to be a part of the movement.
Kendrick Lamar is one of my new favourite artists. He is the definition of Hip-Hop to me at this moment in time. With songs like A.D.H.D. and The Spiteful Chant his ignorance is intelligent and marvellously brilliant. This is the first album, I say album not mixtape because to me thats what it is, that I know pretty much every single freaking word.
In June, Kendrick came down to The Remix Project all the way from Compton, California for a jaw-dropping show that left everyone at the Sound Academy captivated. Celebrating his 24th birthday during his first trip to Toronto, it was a moment to remember for all. Kendrick also came by Remix and hosted a workshop with the participants. He is very legit.
Remix participant Aden did the honours of taking these shots. Adding to the visuals taken from the night, videographer Mark Valino took this video through his lenses.
On August 3rd, NHL players traded in their hockey sticks for golf clubs in support of Canadian youth. At the first annual Dave Bolland Golf Classic, players and celebrities hit the green at The Royal Ontario Golf Club. As a result, they raised $50,000 for The Remix Project’s programming costs. It was a joyous, fun-filled event that will ultimately keep the doors open and the lights on for youth that need the opportunities provided by The Remix Project. Get a glimpse at what went down with the video and photographs below.
On Thursday, June 9th, The Remix Project held the third edition of its Give Money Make Change fundraiser. An indebted thank you to all who showed up to support the program, which is rolling out two new streams, The Art of Photography and The Art of Business.
Thanks to everyone who continuously shows love to my “baby”
Here is a video and some snapshots to recap the event.
On Sunday April 17th Remix held it’s first annual “Stack Chips For Remix” Charity Poker Tournament. It was a huge success and generated over $10,000! The money will be used towards Remix’s operational expenses. The winner of the tournament was Cheryl de Leon! Congrats to all the players who went home with a prize! And thanks to everyone who came out and supported.
This is going to be an awesome event! Thanks to all the people who have already purchased tickets. I know a lot of people have been saying they will be the ones to take home the trip to Vegas. Excited to see who the real champ will be!
